Italian Rivers and Your Journey

Italy is known for its cultural heritage and history. The Italian towns are also worth visiting. Rivers also run across the country and some of the important rivers are explained below. The longest river of Italy is the Po River. The river is precisely 652 kilometers long. This river flows eastward and originates from Monviso and ends at Adriatic Sea. The drainage area of the river is 71000 square kilometers. This river passes through some of the important Italian towns. This includes Turin and Milan. In Milan Leonardo da Vinci had helped in the design and implementation of Nagvili. This was basically a group or a network of channels to water the surrounding areas.

The Padan plain became the most industrially developed area of the whole country. And if you are wondering about the Padan plain, it is the vast valley surrounding the Po river. The river had its share of bad naming too. According to a study conducted in 2005, it was found that the water had high concentrations of benzoylecgonine. People who regularly use cocaine excrete this product through their urine. And since the drainage system is connected to the river, the product found its way in the waters. The river has a large number of tributaries too. The second longest river in Italy is the Adige River. The river is precisely 410 kilometers in length.

The origin of this river is the Lake Resia. Lake Resia is artificial in nature. This river also travels towards the east of the country. It begins from the Venosta valley to the Merano. In Merano, the river joins forces with Passirrio River. The latter flows from north part of the country. This river is known for it’s over night flooding. This can be primarily attributed to the fact that the river has some of its origins from mountains. Hence artificially constructed underground canals are provided which in turn connects the river to Lake Garda. Another river worth mentioning is the Tiber River. This happens to be the third longest river of Italy. It has a total length of 406 kilometers, and it flows from Umbria to Tyrrhenian Sea. The drainage area of the river is estimated at 18000 square kilometers. Many modern bridges have been constructed across the river. Some of the ancient bridges constructed during the olden times have now become pedestrian only. The river starts from central part of Italy and flows to the south.

MY HOLIDAYS AT ZANTE

Last year I went to spend my holidays at Zante island of Greece. We selected this place after searching for the holiday destinations of Greece on net. This is really a wonderful place and offers a number of things to make holidays memorable. We hired a car to explore the beauty of the island on our own. We got a great help from the local people. These people are very friendly and are very nice. They helped us in reaching our desired destinations. The villages of the island present a picture perfect scene.

The architecture of these villages is also very good though much of the historical places have been destroyed by the earth quake of 1953. There are many restaurants and cafes in these villages. The food that is served in them is really yummy. I simply loved it. We visited some mountains of Zante. The views from these mountains were breath taking. This island is truly blessed with natural beauty. I did a lot of shopping also. The market is really good here. We also had a great fun at the beaches of Zante. These beaches were so beautiful. We enjoyed a lot of water sports at these beaches. We had a great fun at the night also. The nightlife of Zante is really very exciting. We enjoyed good music and dancing in a night party organized by one of the night club. I really enjoyed a lot at the Zante island of Greece.
